Railway Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda refused to comment on the controversy surrounding his son Karthik Gowda, who has been charged with rape. He said: “No comments… I am doing my duty and will not interfere in the investigation.”
Speaking to presspersons in Gulbarga city on Wednesday, Mr. Gowda said he himself was a practising advocate until recently, and was confident that the entire truth of how this charge of rape was engineered and manipulated would come out ultimately.
On the reverses suffered by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the byelections in Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Gowda said the party would have to re-design its strategy to gain lost ground. Another reason for the reversal was the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the campaigning in the byelections. In the Lok Sabha elections, Mr. Modi took the entire responsibility of the campaign and led the party to a historic win. “In the byelections, Mr. Modi could not spare time due to his preoccupation in office,” he said.
