The earthquake in Nepal and the aftershocks felt on the Indian side of the Himalayas will not affect the 37th expedition to Rumtu Top in Himachal Pradesh.

The IAMAS founder, Deepak Solanki, told The Hindu that they are in touch with the base camp at Naggar and there is a confirmation that the earthquake and the after tremors have not affected the Himachal Pradesh region. “The expedition will go on as scheduled”, said Mr. Solanki.

The team is expected to return to Mysuru on May 14, said Mr. Solanki.

Apart from participants from Mysuru, the expedition has members from Bengaluru, Davangere, Hassan, Tumakuru, Kochi, Secunderabad, Gwalior and New Delhi.

The team will be led by A. Anil Kumar, chairperson, IAMAS, with other experienced trekkers, including Mr. Solanki, besides a doctor.
