All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Oscar Fernandes on Saturday put to rest speculations about change of leadership in Karnataka and said Siddaramaiah would continue as Chief Minister and will complete his term.

“There is no proposal before the AICC to change the leadership in Karnataka,” he told presspersons at the district Congress committee office here.

Mr. Fernandes, Rajya Sabha member, said the AICC had not received any complaint against Legislative Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa. “The matter is being discussed in the media. As for my knowledge goes, nobody has complained against [Mr.] Thimmappa,” he said.

When asked about the prospects of a Dalit becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Mr. Fernandes said he would wholeheartedly uphold the aspiration in principle. “The AICC will respond positively as and when it is required to,” he added.
