Nine persons killed in separate accidents

Nine persons were killed in different accidents in Kalaburagi district and in Maharashtra.

Five persons died on the spot and eight suffered serious injuries when a tractor trailer overturned near Handarki village in Sedam taluk on Sunday evening. The victims were returning to their village, Goudanalli, in Sedam taluk after attending a funeral at Nachawar village in the same taluk.

The victims have been identified as Siddappa Hadapad (35), Shivaraya Kalal (59), Bhimayya Badiger (30), Devendrappa Belageri (58), and Devappa (35).

The injured have been admitted to the Government General Hospital and Basaveshwar Hospital in Kalaburagi. Minister of State for Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Patil, who represents Sedam Assembly constituency, and senior officials have gone to the accodemt spot.

Four persons from Basavakalyan died in a road accident at Umerga in Maharashtra on Saturday night. Rupesh (29), his sister Anita (32), her son Aditya (2), and a family friend Sarfaraz (25), died on the spot when a lorry hit their car. They were returning to Pune after an engagement ceremony. Deepak Bulla, who was injured, has been admitted to a private hospital in Maharashtra.
