Nine candidates file nominations in Gulbarga

Nine candidates filed their nomination papers for the May 5 elections to the Assembly in the district on Saturday.

Kausar Begum Maqbool Patel, Syed Akbar Patel and Vakeel Khaja Patel filed their nominations from Jewargi; Mohammad Ali Sheikh Moinuddin and Monappa Golappa, from Sedam. All are contesting as Independents.

In Gulbarga Rural, Independent Revanasiddappa Basanna Doddamani filed his nomination papers, while Ninganna Saibanna of the Socialist Unity Centre of India filed two sets of nominations. Also from SUCI, Nagamma Diwakar submitted nominations to Gulbarga South, as did Independent Sandeep Patel Shivaputrappa.

There were no nominations from Afzalpur, Chittapur, Gulbarga North, Chincholi or Aland.
