NIC to restore State government websites soon

April 23, 2013 10:36 am | Updated 10:36 am IST - Bangalore:

The National Informatics Centre (NIC) has said that in two or three days it would restore more than 30 Karnataka government websites that were taken off the server more than two weeks ago after an attempt to hack them was noticed on April 6.

An official of the NIC, which manages the government websites, told The Hindu that several websites, including the portals of district and trial courts in the State, were taken off the server for “screening and cleaning them up” after an attempt to hack them.

It may be mentioned here that Brazilian hackers had targeted several government websites and defaced their home pages.

“We are checking for bugs in certain applications. We should begin releasing them in a day or two”, an NIC official said.
