The official website of Mysore Dasara has gotten the most hits from New York (among places outside India); the website registered high traffic from the North American city, according to the company which designed the website.
In a span of 12 days — from August 30 to September 11 — the website (www.mysoredasara.gov.in) registered 57,604 hits.
On August 31 alone, the website registered 14,321 hits.
“The highest traffic on the website was earlier recorded in Dubai. Now, the website is most visited in New York,” said Kantharaj of Dot Angle, the Mysore-based web development company.
With the support of the Mysore district administration and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the company designed the website which was launched on August 30.
In India, the highest traffic on the website was registered in Bangalore. The traffic from desktop users is highest (79 per cent) followed by mobile users (16 percent) and tablet users (5 per cent).
The facebook page already has 3,815 followers. Visitors to the website spent an average time of 6 minutes and 32 seconds perusing its pages, while the most-visited pages were the ‘events’ and ‘enquiries’ pages.
The most frequently asked questions pertained to availability of Dasara tickets and Yuva Dasara.
Yuva Dasara, which was cancelled last year, is making a comeback. Ever since Yuva Dasara was added to the Dasara events’ list, the response to the show grew each passing year.
Enquiries on live chat
Mr. Kantharaj told The Hindu that there were enquiries from London and New York on live chat about the events and Jamboo Savari. “The enquiries on live chat were rising since the launch. The hits are expected to go up once the events were finalised,” he said.
The website, powered by Google Translate, can be accessed in some regional and foreign languages too.
The district administration is expecting more visitors, including foreign tourists, this year since the publicity for the festivities had been launched earlier.
