As justice is everyone’s right, advocates should make sincere efforts to ensure that it is meted out to those in need, said Karnataka High Court judge Justice John Michael D’Cuhna on Saturday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the new court complex and residential quarters for judges at Holalkere town here. He said courts are set up based on the size of population to provide people with the necessary infrastructure to ensure speedy justice to the public. There are also certain norms for setting up a court in a taluk. “The people will not get justice merely by constructing courts. Advocates should also make efforts to ensure justice to those in need,” he said.
He also urged advocates to also treat their clients in a dignified manner. Under no circumstances should advocates put their clients to inconvenience, he said.
Minister for Social Welfare and district in-charge H. Anjaneya said every individual in society should abide by the rules and regulations and respect the law of the land.
The court complex includes the civil judge, principal civil judge, JMFC civil judge, and JMFC courts, the canteen, and the quarters. It was constructed spending ₹12 crore. Bar Association president Vijay informed that the foundation stone for construction of the court buildings was laid in 2007.
