SDM College of Ayurveda will organise a national-level seminar on ‘Mental ailments: Neutralising through Ayurveda symphony’ here on Monday.
Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, K.R. Ramachandra, principal of the college, said that over 800 delegates from across India would take part in the seminar titled ‘ Manas-2015’. More than 140 papers by professors and postgraduate students would be presented at the seminar.
According to the World Health Organization, 20 per cent of the country’s population will suffer from some form of mental illness by 2020 but India is not equipped to handle mental health issues on such a large scale.
He said that mental ailments increased due to current lifestyle, hectic schedules and social problems.
The seminar would be highlighting different mental disorders, categorised as ‘unmada,’ its management along with the care of the patients.
The four topics which would be discussed at the seminar in four sessions are: contemporary diagnosis of ‘Doshaja Unmada’, current relevance of ‘Agantuja Unmada’, principles of ‘Shodhana’ treatment in ‘Unmada’ and effective ‘Shamana’ and ‘Rasayana’ in ‘Unmada.’
