Medical seat aspirants from Karnataka who will write the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam for admission to medical and dental courses on May 18 say that they will have an edge over students from other States as they are familiar with the pattern of the paper.
While students in other States took the exam on May 5, the exam in Karnataka was postponed owing to the Assembly elections.
Tvisha Ijner, a student of BGS National Public School, Bangalore, said, “We got extra time. Moreover, we know what type of questions will be asked.”

Meanwhile, students from other States, who had arrived in Bangalore on Sunday for the COMEDK exam, expressed disappointment over the fact that the Karnataka students were familiar with the pattern of the paper.
Jay Bothra, a student from Divine Child High School, Surat, said, “Students from Karnataka are aware of the pattern of the paper and have more time to prepare for the exams. So we are at a disadvantage.”
However, medical and dental seat aspirants are facing anxious moments as the Supreme Court is yet to give its verdict on the validity of the test.
Rachana Chandrashekhar, a student from Akash Institute in Hyderabad, said that the delay was making the entire process “chaotic”.
“There is confusion regarding the validity of the exam. We have been facing tense moments over the last few months,” she said.
