Nearly half of the examination centres across the State, where the II PU exams will be held from Thursday, do not have CCTV cameras.

The Department of Pre-University Education had set January 1 as the deadline for installation of CCTV cameras, and had threatened to disallow centres to take exams if they failed to comply with the direction. No action, however, has been taken as a majority are government colleges.

Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, C. Shikha, Director, Department of Pre-University Education, said 510 out of the total 998 centres across the State have installed CCTV cameras. “A majority of the aided and unaided colleges have installed cameras but many government colleges were unable to do so owing to paucity of funds,” she said.

Of the 998 centres, 306 centres are in aided colleges, 239 in unaided and 325 in government PU colleges.
