Lauding the efforts of farmers in Kolar and Chickballapur in making the adjoining districts one of the prosperous milk-producing regions in the State, T. Nandakumar, chairman of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), said that this has been possible despite drought conditions.
Inaugurating the Dairy Cooperative Awareness Week organised by the Kolar-Chickballapur Milk Union Ltd. (KOCHIMUL) at Belaganahalli here on Friday, he said that the twin districts were at second place in the State in terms of milk production. KOCHIMUL procures 8.5 lakh litres of milk a day.
NDDB has resolved to economically empower the rural womenfolk and priority will be accorded to strengthen women cooperative societies, he added.
NDDB managing director Sangram, general manager Adithyanath Jha, Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra, KMF managing director Ramalinge Gowda, Kochimul president Kantharaj, and managing director G.T. Gopal were present.
