National university games to be organised in February

The Association of Indian Universities will organise the National Games in February 2018. These will include 16 events with the participation of around 1,000 athletes.

Gurdeep Singh, joint secretary, was speaking at the valedictory function of the all-India inter-university cross-country championship at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), in Belagavi on Monday. Mangalore University won the overall championship.

Ranjit Kumar, Punjab University, won first prize in men’s cross-country running and Tadvi Kishan, Savitribai University, was second. R.K Patil, Mangalore University, was third. In the women’s category, Sajeevini Jadhav stood first. Varsha Devi from Kurukshetra University, second, and Dimple Singh of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University came third. In group events, Mangalore University stood first, Punjab University came in second and Patiala Punjabi University got the third prize. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya University was first in women’s group events.
