Namesakes galore among the candidates for the Assembly elections in Chickballapur district.
In the Bagepalli constituency, where there are 25 candidates, two S.N. Subba Reddys and three Subbi Reddys are in the fray. Interestingly, all of them are Independents.
While one S.N. Subba Reddy claims that he is a ‘rebel’ Congress candidate, another S.N. Subba Reddy’s claim to fame is that he is worth Rs. 80 crore.
The ‘rebel’ Congress candidate Mr. Subba Reddy says that even if 500 Subba Reddys were fielded against him, there could be no confusion among voters.

In Chickballapur, while K.P. Bachche Gowda, MLA, is seeking re-election on the JD(S) ticket, Bachche Gowda and D.A. Bachche Gowda are contesting against him as Independents. In the same segment, while K. Sudhakar is the Congress nominee, B.R. Sudhakar Reddy is an Independent. In Chintamani, while J.K. Krishna Reddy is contesting on the JD(S) ticket, M. Krishna Reddy is the JD(U) nominee.
There is one more Krishna Reddy contesting this segment as an Independent. Interestingly, Congress candidate in the segment Vani’s surname is also Krishna Reddy.
Also in the fray in Chintamani are M.C. Sudhakar, MLA; T.N. Sudhakar Reddy and V. Hari Sudhakar, all contesting as Independents.
In Gauribidanur constituency, N.H. Shivashankara Reddy, MLA, is the Congress candidate, there is an Independent candidate by the same name.
While V. Muniyappa, MLA, is seeking re-election on the Congress ticket in Sidlaghatta, another V. Muniyappa is an Independent candidate in the segment. M. Rajanna is contesting on the JD(S) ticket here while G.A. Rajanna is an Independent candidate.
