Mysuru BJP workers ‘firm’ on bike rally

The Mysuru Bharatiya Janata Party city unit on Tuesday said the bike rally to Mangaluru will be flagged off here on Wednesday. “We are firm and the rally will happen despite the City Police denying permission,” said city BJP president Dr. Manjunath.

Speaking to presspersons, he said the BJP workers would rather go to jail than call off the rally. “The rally will happen in Mysuru on Wednesday and no decision has been taken yet on suspending it,” he added.

On the police denying permission, he said the government was trying to undermine the party. The intent of the rally is to establish peace in the State, he said. “It’s going to be a peaceful rally and the party workers won’t flout the law,” Dr. Manjunath said, questioning if the police did not have power to provide bandobust for the rally.
