R.G. Singh, Honorary Secretary, Ramsons Kala Pratishtana (RKP) of Mysuru, will be delivering a talk on Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar’s magnum opus on chess and other board games — Chaduranga Chakra — at the 19th International Board Games Colloquium in Nuremberg, Germany, on April 13.
The International Board Games Colloquium is an annual event and is hosted by a different country of the European Union, including Great Britain and the United States. This multi-cultural event is attended by scholars, museum curators, historians, authors, game inventors, collectors and university professors from across the world.
The subjects discussed at the meet vary from the general to the role of board games in play and learning in different cultures as well as historical, psychological, anthropological, educational and mathematical aspects of the games. The German Games Archives, a member of the International Society for Board Games Studies, is the host of the 19th International Colloquium. The Colloquium will be inaugurated on April 12 and will conclude on April 16.
Mr. Singh will be accompanied by H.S. Dharmendra, Curator and Art Historian, RKP.
H.S. (Raghu) Dharmendra will be interacting with artists in Nuremberg and Belgium and discuss ways of exhibiting their works in Mysuru and works of artists from Mysuru in their countries, stated a release issued here.
“Indian Traditional Board Games – A Guide to the Art of Play,” a booklet jointly authored by Mr. Singh, Mr. Dharmendra and Dr. Dilip Kumar would be launched at the Colloquium. The booklet is published by Ramsons Kala Pratishtana.
According to Mr. Singh, the illustrated manuscript — Chaduranga Chakra— was authored by Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar III.
Mr. Singh and Mr. Dharmendra will also be visiting the Museum of Sacred Art (MoSA) at Radhadesh (the Chateau de Petite Somme) in Belgium and will be staying there for a few days as guests of Dr. Martin Gurvich of MoSA, the release added.
Singh will be also giving two talks—“Surapura Vijaya- the Art of Vijay Hagargundgi’ and “Mantra Mukura- spiritual incantations of artist G.L.N. Simha”— at MoSA.
