The bandh was total in Mysuru and surrounding regions of the Cauvery basin of the State on Saturday.

Except for pharmacies and a few ATMs, all commercial establishments in K.R. Circle, Devaraja Urs Road and Dhanvantari Road remained shut since the morning.

The palace, the zoo and tourist attractions remained closed to visitors. Financial institutions remained shut.

The KSRTC bus stand was deserted as all outgoing and suburban services were withdrawn.

Industries were closed for the day as the Mysore Industries’ Association and the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry are supporting the bandh. The MIA said most of the industries would work on the next weekly holiday as compensation.

Mandya, Chamarajanagar and surrounding regions reported similar scenes.

Security was intensified although all areas were peaceful until noon.

University staff at the Crawford Hall stopped work and were made to come out of the building to support the protest. Farmers, students and many organisations are supporting the bandh.
