BJP MLA Sanjay Patil has clarified that he has not supported Maharashtra in the border dispute.
In a video released on social media, he claimed that his statements at the Marathi literary festival in Belgundi village were wrongly reported. “I have only said that the dispute must end soon. I have not said the dispute should end in favour of Maharashtra. There is a political conspiracy to malign me. They fully realise that I am not a judge to give judgments on such disputes. Nor am I foolish enough to speak about the final judgment in a pending case,” he said.
“I was born in Maharashtra but brought up in Belagavi. I will not betray my people. I am a follower of Hindutva politics. I will not discriminate against speakers of any language. I am sorry if I have hurt anyone. I have participated in Karnataka Rakshana Vedike programmes in the past and always upheld the interest of Karnataka,” he added.
