Bangalore police have sent the laptop and mobile phone belonging to Mustafa, the accused in the rape of a six-year-old girl in Marathahalli, for cyber forensic examination to Hyderabad. The police had seized the two gadgets on Sunday, which were found to hold a large collection of child porn, most of them downloaded from the internet. A senior official also said there were some photographs of young girls, who they suspect may have been victimised by the accused. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Crime) Abhishek Goyal hoped that the forensic report may provide leads to the police on earlier cases of child abuse that he may have been involved in. “We want to know if he had recorded any videos or photos of any girls earlier, and later deleted them,” he said.
In the Hennur case, where a 15-year-old was allegedly raped in a nunnery, the police are still groping in the dark about the identity of the miscreants. A special police team visited the girl’s home in Andhra Pradesh and questioned her parents and other family members. Police suspect that an acquaintance of hers may have perpetrated the crime. In the Pulakeshinagar case, the fifth accused is still at large. Satish Kumar, DCP (East) told The Hindu they had concrete leads on his movements.
