MUDA to develop 5,310 sites in four new residential areas

This is in tune with the new land acquisition policy as per which farmers parting with their land would be given 50 p.c. of developed sites

The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) will develop and distribute more than 5,310 sites in four new residential areas, in which farmers will be partners in development.

This is in tune with the new land acquisition policy according to which farmers parting with their land would be given 50 per cent of the developed sites in lieu of compensation. They would be free to sell it at the prevailing market rate at the time of transaction.

The MUDA also proposes to build 240 middle-income group houses and 264 high-income group houses under the group housing scheme, which would be distributed to the public. This was highlighted in the MUDA budget for 2015-16 presented by Commissioner S. Palaiah here on Saturday.

Four layouts

In all, 207.3 acres of land would be acquired at Lingambudhi and Yadahalli villages for the development of Nalwudi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Layout, where 2,484 sites will be formed and farmers will get 50 per cent of the sites.

Similarly, 184.10 acres of land will be acquired at Halaalu and Chowdahalli villages for the development of Swarna Jayanti Nagar where 2,208 sites will be formed under the 50:50 formula.

The MUDA will form 540 sites by acquiring 48 acres on the Mysuru-Bogadi-Gaddige Road to develop K. Hemmanahalli Layout, while 114 sites will be carved out by acquiring 7.14 acres of land at Nanjangud’s Kasaba hobli.

The authority has projected a revenue of Rs. 425.98 crore by way of sale and auction of sites, development charges, property tax, etc. while net expenditure has been projected at Rs. 432.27 crore for the financial year 2015-16. Elected representatives of Mysuru, and MUDA chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar were present.
