The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) is set to distribute 530 sties in Lalitadrinagar (north), the applications for which will be distributed from August 1.
MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar told The Hindu that the official notification was issued on Wednesday and the applications will be distributed through eight branches of Vijaya Bank (details of which have been uploaded on the MUDA website (http://mudamysore.gov.in/index.htm) till August 16. The last date to submit applications along with the requisite fee depending on the preferred size of sites is August 26. In all, there are 35 sites of 15x24 sq. m dimension (cost ₹21.69 lakh); 70 sites of 12x18 sq. m (₹11.53 lakh); 300 sites of 9x12 sq. m (₹4.34 lakh), and 125 sites of 6x9 sq. m dimension (₹1.55 lakh).
Mr. Dhruvakumar said the sites are fully developed and ready for construction and this is the second major allotment by MUDA this year. This comes close on the heels of allotment of sites at R.T. Nagar, which was held up owing to legal dispute for many years.
The initial amount to be deposited along with the applications is 10% of the site value for general applicants, while it is 3% of the site value for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes aspirants and ex-servicemen and their family members.
Mr. Dhruvakumar said MUDA will also issue applications for its group housing scheme, the demand survey for which was completed some time ago.
The group housing project is being taken up under the Affordable Housing Scheme and the demand survey has been encouraging enough for MUDA to give the green signal for the project. The MUDA will use the available land at Vijayanagar to construct 1 BHK, 2 BHK and 3 BHK flats, the cost of which will be pegged at approximately ₹18.84 lakh, ₹30 lakh and ₹45 lakh, respectively.
This will be MUDA’s first venture into apartment project and underlines the preferred shift for vertical growth as space crunch is a major issue. Besides, MUDA has not made any fresh land acquisition in the recent past and is saddled with the burden of allotting sites to nearly 80,000 people whose applications are pending and hence is toying with construction of flats to meet the housing exigencies.
