MP inspects tunnel repair works on Hulikere tunnel

C.S. Puttaraju, MP, on Saturday inspected the ongoing repair on Hulikere tunnel, at Hulikere village on the outskirts of the town.

Accompanied by Cauvery Neeravari Nigam Ltd. (CNNL) officials, Mr. Puttaraju visited the tunnel of the Visvesvaraya canal under the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) and instructed officials to speed up work.

Caved in

The earth had caved in at different parts near the tunnel in 2012. Subsequently, the State government had taken up the repair works of the tunnel at a cost of Rs. 9.5 crore in 2014.

According to CNNL sources, the MP has instructed officials to ensure release of water into it by Thursday.
