More than 9,000 students appeared for the Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) on Sunday.
KMAT is the entrance examination conducted by the Karnataka Private Postgraduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) for admissions to management quota seats in Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses. The association has more than 169 institutions under it.
N. Prakash, secretary of the association, said the response to this year’s KMAT was better compared to last year when about 7,000 students appeared for the test. Of the 11,200 students who had registered for the test this year, 9184 appeared.
While 50 per cent of the seats will be filled using the KMAT scores for the management quota, the remaining 50 per cent will go the government, which will fill the seats using the scores of the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) conducted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
‘Lengthy paper’
Most students coming out of the exam centre said the test was lengthy. “I appeared for both the MBA and MCA tests and the time was less than three hours (2 hours, 40 minutes). This was not sufficient at all,” said a student.
Many said the difficulty level was moderate. “But the logical questions were a little tricky and I could not answer all the questions because the paper was so lengthy,” said another student.
Results
According to KMAT website, the results of Sunday’s test will be announced on August 1 and the score cards will be despatched on August 5.
