Even as the BJP intensifies its campaign against the State government for the two new FIRs filed against party State president B.S. Yeddyurappa by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), sources say the former Chief Minister may be in for more trouble with as many as 18 more cases against him.

The ACB sources said that the two FIRs registered against Mr. Yeddyurappa pertain to only two instances of alleged illegal denotification of land from preliminary notification of Shivarama Karanth Layout. There are 20 such instances of denotification totalling to 257 acres 20.5 guntas, part of the complaint lodged by activist D. Ayyappa Dorey.

Sources confirmed that the preliminary enquiries into the remaining 18 instances were in various stages of progress and a call to register FIRs would be taken based on the preliminary reports. A senior official said FIRs were likely in those cases too, as preliminary probe had revealed that a similar modus operandi had been followed in most instances of denotification.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to trace Asha Paradeshi, landlord of three acres and six guntas of land in Avalahalli village that was dropped from the preliminary notification. Sources said middlemen had acquired a fake endorsement from BDA for the denotification, which was used to get the land use converted.
