A 48-year-old woman has filed a complaint that she has been hit by a car in which Moobidri MLA K. Abhayachandra Jain was travelling on Friday evening.

In the complaint to the Bajpe police, 48-year-old Jainabi said she was hit by the car when she was walking by the roadside near Bajpe market. After hitting her, the car sped away without admitting her to hospital.

Denying the allegation, Mr. Jain said he was on his way to Moodbidri from the airport to attend a programme. Near the market, his car driver saw another vehicle suddenly approaching him and so moved the car to the roadside. In the process the car window glass mirror hit Jainabi.

Mr. Jain said he immediately asked his driver t stop the vehicle. “I went to the woman and sought an apology. But she was not ready to listen and started abusing me.” Mr. Jain said he did not want to create a scene and so immediately left the place. The injury to the woman was minor. “It’s a mistake on my part that I did not inform the police,” he added.
