Three ancient monuments —Gol Gumbaz, Sangeet Mahal and the Gagan Mahal — have always been enchanting , however, at night, they look even more splendid as these monuments have been illuminated with coloured lights.

Memorable experience

These monuments have been decorated as part of the Navaraspur Utsav which is all set to provide a memorable experience for art and culture lovers from Friday.

The cultural extravaganza, which is being held after the gap of four years, is already drawing crowds, mainly at night to see the marvellous illuminated monuments. Sangeet Mahal, where the inaugural event would be held, has been decorated in a different manner. While a large permanent stage has been constructed, an ancient pond has been filled with water and colourful fountains have been installed.

Paintings

Assistant Municipal Commissioner Harsha Shetty told the press persons that as a special attraction, the large-size portraits of all the eight Adil Shahi emperors, would be place at Gol Gumbaz.

These have been prepared by the artists of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Bangalore, he said. “Similarly, some 45 paintings would also be displayed at Nari Mahal next to Sangeet Mahal,” he said.

Restoration

Meanwhile, District in-charge Minister M.B. Patil, who inspected the venues along with Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep and other officials on Thursday, assured that the administration would explore the possibility of restoring the damaged portions of Sangeet Mahal with the help of Archaeological Survey of India.

District in-charge Minister M.B. Patil has said that the a decision has been taken to reschedule Friday’s school timings from morning till noon and declare a holiday on Saturday for all the schools of the district for enabling the students to participate in Navaraspur Utsav. He told presspersons at Sangeet Mahal on Thursday that since the participation of the students was important, the holiday has been declared.

“The officials of the Education Department, however, have been directed to make sure that the syllabus is covered,” he said.
