Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily today favoured an inquiry by Lokayukta into the alleged land scams that have taken place in the BJP Government led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.

The judicial probe now ordered would be of no utility in bringing out the truth, he told reporters after attending a function here.

“Since the Chief Minister himself is facing allegations of his involvement in land scams what is the use of seeking a judicial probe into them?” said Mr. Moily, whose party - the Congress - has been demanding the Karnataka Chief Minister’s immediate resignation.

Asked about Katta Subramanya Naidu resigning as Minister for IT, BT and Housing yesterday following the Lokayukta filing an FIR against him over a land deal, Mr. Moily said “it is not only Mr. Naidu who is guilty. There are others also who have to quit.”
