The Karnataka High Court on Thursday granted bail to Mohammed Nalapad Haris, son of MLA N.A. Haris in a case of assault and alleged attempt to murder a 24-year-old man at a restaurant in upmarket locality of the city in February this year.

Justice John Michael Cunha passed the order allowing the bail plea of Mohammed Nalapad.

The High Court has directed him to execute a bond for ₹2 lakh and furnish two sureties for the like sums to the satisfaction of the trial court.

Also, he was directed not to tamper with the evidences and witnesses and not to leave the jurisdiction of the trial court without prior permission from the trial court.

The petitioner and his associates had assaulted one Vidvat at Farzi Cafe on February 17.

Bengaluru Central Crime Branch police had filed charge sheet against him and others. The trial court had refused to enlarge him on bail saying that he may attempt influence the witnesses.
