Ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Friday described Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as a “capable person” who has proved himself in Gujarat.
Briefing presspersons on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of a three-day national meet — Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha — of the RSS in which about 1,400 prominent Sangh Parivar functionaries including Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat are participating, RSS national joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale said, “We are of the view that he [Modi] is a swayamsevak and is of course a very capable person who has proved himself in Gujarat.”
However, he did not give a direct reply when asked if the RSS had given clearance for the BJP’s Modi-centric poll campaign.
The meet was inaugurated by Mr. Bhagwat.
