Lashing out at the style of functioning of Union government, former Chief Minister and State President of Janata Dal(Secular), H.D.Kumaraswamy questioned Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, “Did the people of the country give the mandate to Bharatiya Janata Party to give brooms in the hands of the people and clean the roads?”

After inaugurating a Backward Classes convention organised by JDS here on Monday afternoon, Mr. Kumaraswamy alleged that even after six months of coming to power, Modi government has failed to address the problems of the people.

Referring to the statement made by Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Raghuram Rajan that waiver of loans of farmers will affect the financial condition of the country, Mr. Kumaraswamy questioned whether lakhs of crores of rupees of tax waived for the corporate sector will not affect the finances of the nation.

He alleged that Modi did not even mention once the name of farmer after coming to power.

He alleged that not even 30 percent of the funds in the planning outlay of the budget has been utilised by the government even after seven months. He alleged that only 6 percent of the funds kept fro irrigation projects in the budget has been utilised which shows the style of functioning of the government.

He alleged Modi failed to keep up his promise of bringing the black money stashed in foreign banks by the people of India.

Referring to the charges against him that Rs.14, 000 crore has been stashed in Swiss bank, Mr. Kumaraswamy said that if he had such amount at his dispensation he would not have allowed either Congress or BJP to rule the state.

He alleged that State government has failed to address the issues of farmers, dalits, minorities and backward classes and hence he would launch an agitation against the government from Belagavi in the days to come.

Former Minister, Bandeppa Kashyampur, MLA’s, K.M.Thimmarayappa, B.C. Suresh Babu, S.R. Srinivas, M.T. Krishnappa, Sudhakar Lal, D. Nagarajaiah, district president of JDS, Dr. M.R. Hulinayakar and others were present.
