The former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) president H.D. Deve Gowda on Friday criticised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Addressing presspersons during his campaign for the by-poll to the Bangalore Rural Parliamentary constituency at Keralalasandra village in Kanankapura Assembly constituency, Mr. Deve Gowda said that the comment made by Mr. Modi is unbecoming of a prime ministerial aspirant. He said that the Prime Minister’s speech should not “misinterpreted”.
Mr. Deve Gowda said that a third force would come to power at the Centre in the general election as people were frustrated with the “mal-administration” of the United Progressive Alliance Government.
‘Modi day dreaming’
At a press meet in Bangalore, Union Railway Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge said, “Mr Modi is day dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister. In fact, he has started thinking he is the Prime Minister. No Chief Minister has ever dared to attack a Prime Minister on the occasion of Independence Day. It is unfortunate.”
Mr. Kharge said: “By attacking the Prime Minister, Mr. Modi has exposed himself. It shows to what extent Mr. Modi can go. Even a senior politician, L.K. Advani, has taken exception to Mr. Modi’s remarks against the Prime Minister.”
