Chief Minister Siddaramaiah dismissed suggestions that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi or the Bharatiya Janata Party would play a role in the State during the Lok Sabha elections.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the cultural platform TSR Vedike, created in memory of legendary Kannada editor T.S. Ramachandra Rao at the Press Club of Bangalore on Saturday. While dismissing the so-called ‘Modi Effect’, Mr. Siddramaiah was responding to statements made earlier in the day by KPCC president G. Parameshwara, who said the party was discussing ways to counter the influence of Mr. Modi on the State’s electorate.
Mr. Siddaramaiah said, “Modi is not a force in Karnataka and neither is the BJP. We all know how the BJP fared in the Assembly elections. They are a spent force.” He also said the Congress will present a united face and fight the elections.
