People in several parts of Chikkamagaluru and Hassan districts experienced moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday. Roads were flooded in many parts of Chikkamagaluru, affecting traffic movement for hours.

Road connectivity between Horanadu and Kalasa in Mudigere taluk was affected as the Hebbale bridge across the Bhadra was submerged. Traffic resumed only on Thursday after water level receded.

Following reports of heavy rain in the district, Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner G. Satyavathi declared a holiday for schools and colleges in Sringeri, Mudigere, Koppa, and N.R. Pura taluks on Thursday.

The decision was taken late in the night on Wednesday. The officials of the Education Department convened the decision through the network of their officials.
