July 04, 2014 02:10 am | Updated 02:10 am IST - BANGALORE:

A day after Karnataka Congress legislator Vijayanand Kashappanavar and his supporters were accused of assaulting two constables on duty, the police are yet to trace him for questioning.

On Thursday, the Cubbon Park police went to the Legislators’ Home looking for Mr. Kashappanavar, who has been named as accused number 2 in the FIR, but could not find him. Mr. Kashappanavar was elected from Hungund in Bagalkot district.

The main accused in the case, Somashekar Gowda, a Congress worker, is also yet to be traced. Mr. Gowda had organised a party to celebrate Mr. Kashappanavar’s birthday at a bar that allegedly went into the early hours of Wednesday. When two beat constables went to videograph the party as part of standard procedure, they were allegedly assaulted.
