Blaming Congress MLA Prasad Abbayya for the stoppage of road works immediately after the district-in-charge Minister initiated them, members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a protest here on Friday.

The protestors led by BJP councillors Satish Shejwadkar, Shivu Menasinakai and others alleged that the road development works had been stopped at the behest of the MLA as he wanted the works to be allotted to a different contractor.

They demanded apology from Mr. Abbayya for stopping the work and urged the municipal corporation to initiate the development works without any delay. Beginning from Maratha Galli the protestors marched to the municipal corporation and submitted a memorandum addressed to the municipal commissioner seeking immediate requisite steps.
