Vijayanagar MLA B.S. Anand Singh is staging a dharna with his supporters in front of the Kamalapur Police Station near Hampi demanding suspension of the Police Sub-Inspector.

Mr. Anand Singh has accused Sub-Inspector Bheemanagouda of releasing three of the six culprits who had duped the former.

Mr. Anand Singh received a WhatsApp message on Monday night stating that son of Civil Aviation Minister would be visiting Hampi and wanted Mr. Anand Singh to look after him. Having believed the message, Mr. Anand Singh generously arranged for his stay and also lent him his Range Rover. The son of Civil Aviation Minister, identified as Robin, along with five of his friends, went round various places. On the third day, Robin, reportedly asked Mr. Anand Singh’s driver to leave and engaged the vehicle himself.

On getting this information, Mr. Anand Singh got suspicious about the six and informed the police who took Robin and the others into custody. Interrogation brought to light that Robin was an imposter.

“On Thursday, I received a call from the police asking me to bring the vehicle for panchanama. I went there and was surprised to see only three accused present instead of six. When I asked about it, the Sub-Inspector said that the other three had been taken to the office of the Circle Inspector of Police. When I cross-verified I got to know that the three accused, all residents of Sindhanur in Raichur district, had been released. This annoyed me and, suspecting something fishy, I sat in dharna demanding the suspension of the Sub-Inspector,” Mr. Anand Singh told The Hindu .

Mr. Anand Singh also said that the condition of his car was awful as the accused had used in a very rash and negligent manner.

Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Hampi Sub-division met Mr. Anand Singh and reportedly requested the latter to withdraw the dharna.

However, the MLA turned down the request saying he will continue it until action is initiated.
