‘Minorities neglected while choosing heads for boards, corporations’

April 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - CHITRADURGA:

Haji Anwar Saab, Congress minority wing general secretary, has alleged that the State government neglected the minority community while choosing heads for boards and corporations.

He told presspersons here on Wednesday that the minority community had been supporting the Congress owing to its secular credentials, but in recent times the party had proved that it was not secular by giving priority only to select communities.

“In Chitradurga city, the community has more than 50,000 voters and the party has not given representation to them in boards and corporations,” Mr. Anwar Saab said.

Though Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya, MLAs Sudhakar, Raghumurthy, B.G. Govindappa and N.Y. Gopalkrishna had concerns for the backward and minority communities, they had failed to pressure the government to ensure that its members were chosen as heads of board or corporations.
