Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president G. Parameshwara on Thursday asked Minister for Municipal Administration and Wakf Qamar-ul Islam to ensure that 15 per cent benefits of all government schemes should go to minority community members, especially housing.
In an interaction with the Minister during his visit to the KPCC office on Thursday, Dr. Parameshwara asked the Minister to prepare a proposal in this regard and send it to the Chief Minister.
The Minister, who briefed the party president about the measures initiated by the new government for the minority communities, said successful candidates belonging to these communities would get education loans on the day of their seat selection at the respective Common Entrance Test (CET) centres. The loan would be disbursed through the State Minorities Development Corporation, he said.
He said the government, which had announced the Bidaai scheme for the benefit of women belonging to minority communities, had released an additional Rs. 5 crore to implement the scheme.
“Efforts are being made to fill the vacancies in the Department of Wakf. There are nearly 300 vacant posts across the State,” the Minister said.
