A minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered at a village under Chintamani Rural police limits in Chintamani taluk of Chickballapur district on Wednesday night. The police have taken into custody one person on suspicion in connection with the crime.
The miscreant reportedly abducted the eight-year-old girl while she was sleeping with her family members in her house. Her parents panicked when they found that their daughter was missing. They went on a frantic search and found her body in a bush on the outskirts of the village in the wee hours of Thursday.
The police took into custody a 25-year-old youth based on the doubts expressed by the parents of the victim. He is said to be a relative of the girl.
