The chamber of Minister for Social Welfare H. Anjaneya — room nos. 340 and 341 in the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha — is being renovated again.
On Saturday, a couple of workers were seen laying new floor tiles in the chamber. Furniture was kept in the corridor to expedite the work.
Official sources told The Hindu that the work commenced a couple of days ago and was expected to be completed in a day.
CriticisedMr. Anjaneya had got the wall between the two rooms demolished in January. He had prevented the entry of media personnel into his chamber till the demolition was completed. The wall demolition was criticised by the Opposition parties as well as social activists.
After the demolition, the Minister got his chamber renovated and got the photographs of Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi installed.
The Minister defended the demolition saying that the room was congested and he wanted it to be more spacious.
Earlier, Minister for Forests B. Ramanath Rai had rearranged his chamber reportedly in accordance with Vaastu norms. He too had got a wall demolished in his chamber.
During the erstwhile BJP government’s tenure, the then Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and the then Minister C.M. Udasi had undertaken similar repairs in their chambers, but were forced to discontinue the work following public criticism.
