June 15, 2013 10:33 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:23 pm IST - Bangalore:

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G. Parameshwara on Friday said that he would abide by the party high command’s decision on his joining the Siddaramaiah Ministry, and in any capacity it desired.

Speaking to presspersons after admitting Janata Dal (Secular) leader and former MLA from Kunigal Muddahanume Gowda to the party, Dr. Parameshwara said that he would now concentrate on the Lok Sabha elections, which, according to him, was likely to be held in October/November.

Dr. Parameshwara said that it would be his endeavour to help the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance score a hat-trick at the Centre by winning the maximum possible seats. He said that a team of party leaders would visit the districts in 10 days to get possible names of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

He said that he would tour all the Lok Sabha constituencies and select candidates. He said that the party’s performance in Karnataka would be very important.

A.H. Vishwanath, MP, said that Dr. Parameshwara had played a major role in bringing the Congress back to power, but it was painful that he was not in the Ministry.
