Energy Minister and district in charge D.K. Shivakumar has directed district officials to stay at the headquarters without fail and supervise the works of their respective departments.

He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Janaspandana’ programme (public grievances meeting) at Sri Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Kala Mandir on Friday. You should work for the success of government schemes being implemented to uplift the poor and downtrodden in the district, he told officials.

The aim behind organising the programme was to provide an open forum for people to present their complaints, Mr. Shivakumar said.

As many as 280 people submitted their applications at the Janaspandana programme. While many demanded benefits of housing schemes, title deeds, several wanted the government to solve water, electricity and other infrastructure problems in their localities.

A.K. Radha, the first girl from the Soliga community to pass B.A. and B.Ed. from Srirangapatna taluk demanded a job from the government.

The programme, supposed to begin at 11.30 a.m., began at 1.30 p.m. owing to the Minister’s late arrival.
