‘Mini-Emergency’ being created in State: Revanna

Former Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna has alleged that the State government is creating a “mini-Emergency-like situation” by proposing to invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act against the protesting employees.

The issue could have been resolved through talks, instead of going for ESMA, he said at a press conference in Hassan on Thursday. “If the policemen have demands, the government should have invited them for talks. Instead of talking to senior officers, the government should have called constables and listened to them. Where was the need for threatening them with dismissal for protesting”, he questioned.

The State government employees have also gone on strike. The police have announced that they will go on mass leave on June 4. The government has failed to handle the situation. “The government has lost the confidence of the public, farmers, police and government employees as well. The State is heading to a mini-Emergency-like situation”, he said.
