Raitha-Krishi Karmikara Sanghatane (RKS) will be holding a mega-rally in Bengaluru on April 9 to protest against the ordinance brought to Land Acquisition Act by BJP-led NDA government.
Giving details, T.S. Sunit Kumar, president of RKS, told presspersons here on Wednesday that the ordinance would deprive the farmers of their right over their land. The government has withdrawn all the rights and protection provided in the Act enacted in 2013 to farmers. The government can acquire the farm land, including irrigated tracts coercively, without the consent of the farmers.
“The ordinance, in its present form is detrimental to farmers and also to the country. The farmers, with ordinance given effect, farmers will be treated as live stock and machines. This should be condemned strongly and Union government has to withdraw the ordinance and continue with the existing Act,” he said.
