Meet to discuss issues haunting farm sector

July 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HUBBALLI:

The Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) will hold a State-level farmers conference to deliberate on the issues haunting the farm sector at Vivekananda Hall in Gadag on July 21.

KRRS State president Chamarasa Malipatil told presspersons here on Thursday that the conference would be held on the occasion of the farmer’s martyr day programme.

Sarvodaya Party MLA K.S. Puttannaiah, farmer leaders Chukki Nanjundaswamy and D.T. Gangadharaiah will take part in the conference, he said. Apart from several other issues, the conference will deliberate mainly on issues related to farmers and the irrigation sector in the State in general and north Karnataka in particular.

Mr. Malipatil ridiculed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah holding meetings of bureaucrats and asking them to speed up administration work. For last three years Mr. Siddaramaiah had done nothing for farmers and the working class. The June 21 conference will deliberate all these issues and chalk out the future course of action to safeguard farmers interests, Mr. Malipatil said.
