Stakeholders in the city will meet Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation G.M. Siddeshwar to discuss the imperatives of air connectivity to Mysore.
The meeting, scheduled for August 2 at Hotel Kings Kourt here at 5.30 p.m., will be attended by members of the Mysore Industries Association (MIA), Confederation of Indian Industry, Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives in the travel and tourism industry, among others. The meeting holds significance consequent to plans of SpiceJet to cancel commercial services from Mysore from September 1, 2014.
Suresh Kumar Jain, general secretary, MIA, said the Minister would be apprised of the need for reviving the services and introducing new flights, even if it means providing concessions to operators to fly to tier II cities such as Mysore as industrialisation hinges on air connectivity.
Mysore MP Pratap Simha will also attend the meeting, which will be presided over by Chamaraja MLA Vasu. Mr. Jain said stakeholders interested in participating should register through email mysoremia@gmail.com or call 7026610445.
