‘Media analysis should be positive’

Former Speaker of Legislative Assembly and Srinivasapur MLA, K.R. Rameshkumar said the analysis by media should be positive and truthful.

Inaugurating a function to mark the release of a local daily ‘Panchama Vani’ here on Monday, Mr. Kumar underlined the need for self-regulation of media.

He expressed grave concern over the growing grip of corporate sector over the media and also increasing intolerance towards freedom of expression.

“Superstitious beliefs are growing in the society in spite of increase in the literacy rate”, Mr. Kumar said.

Writer Kotiganahalli Ramaiah, while expressing the concern over ‘cash for news’ tendency said it was betrayal of the people.

Releasing the paper, Deputy Commissioner K.V. Thrilokchandra said media is the conscious keeper of the society. Media need to concentrate on development oriented activities, he said.
