The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has opened a single window cell at its head office in the city to expedite the process of issuing approvals for building plans in its jurisdiction.
After inaugurating the single window cell on Monday, Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa told reporters that the applications for building plans submitted at the newly opened facility in the MCC head office will be approved the same day or latest by next day, if all the papers are in order.
However, the building plans should be for sites measuring up to 2,400 feet in dimension. Construction on sites above 2,400 ft will have to be approved by either the Superintending Engineer, Commissioner or the Standing Committee, depending on the area of the site or the nature and volume of construction.
Mr. Bhyrappa said the MCC decided to open the single window cell in the wake of complaints from the public about the inordinate delay in receiving approval for their building plans from the zonal offices. “The zonal offices will continue to receive applications and issue approval for building plans even after the opening of this facility. We want them to compete with the head office,” he said.
Girish, Joint Director of Town Planning, MCC, said applications seeking approval for building plans submitted at the single window cell will be assessed for a fee, which will have to be paid before the approval is given.
Shesha, Assistant Director of Town Planning, MCC, said around 30 to 40 applications seeking approval for building plans are received by the civic body every day from all the zonal offices, though the MCC head office was also processing building plans till three years ago. “It had been discontinued for some reason, but with the opening of the single window cell, the service has been resumed at the head office”, he said.
