Mayor, Deputy Mayor of Tumkuru CMC elected

Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Tumakuru City Municipal Corporation were elected unanimously here on Thursday afternoon.

Regional Commissioner, Ritesh Kumar Singh announced that Lalitha Ravish was unanimously elected as Mayor and Venkatesh M.N. was elected as Deputy Mayor.

Only two candidates had filed nomination papers one for Mayor’s post and the other for Deputy Mayor’s post and hence there was no voting and both were elected unanimously.

Lalitha Ravish belongs to Janata Dal (Secular) and M.N. Venkatesh belongs to Bharatiya Janata Party.

The Tumakuru CMC which has a strength of 38 members out of which 35 are councillors and three are one MLA, MP and MLC.

Congress has 12 members, Janata Dal (Secular) has 13 members, Bharatiya Janata Party has 8 members and two are independents.

The activists of BJP and JDS celebrated by bursting crackers and distributing sweets on the premises of CMC.
