Jailed People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasir Maudany, undergoing holistic treatment at Soukya International Holistic Centre here, will be discharged on Thursday.
Mr. Maudany was admitted to the centre on January 7 as per the directions of the Karnataka High Court. In June 2011, he was treated in the same facility for 28 days as per the direction of the Supreme Court.
According to medical director of the centre Issac Mathai, Mr. Maudany has undergone treatment for diabetes, cervical spondylosis, hypertension, intra vertebral disc prolapse (IVDP) at the level of L2-3, L3-4, neurogenic bladder, dyslipidimia, diabetic retinopathy, peripheral neuropathy, allergic rhinitis, frozen shoulder and related ailments.
“He has been given integrated medical treatment in consultation with specialists, including cardiologist, neurologist, nephrologist, urologist and diabetologist, at Manipal Hospital,” Mr. Mathai said.
Medical test
The PDP leader had undergone extensive medical investigations such as DLCO / Spirometry, complete blood count, blood sugar / urine sugar-fasting / post-prandial blood sugar, renal function tests, urine routine tests, liver function test, lipid profile, glycocilated haemoglobin, thyroid profile, Vit-D and EEG. “We have also consulted his personal physician Mohammed Iqbal of Cochin’s Medical Trust Hospital and diabetologist Tom Babu from Diabetic Centre, Cochin,” Mr. Mathai said.
During his stay in Soukya, he was referred to Dr. Agarwal’s Eye Hospital for eye investigation and he was admitted there for five days for laser treatment in the right and left eyes.
Recommending that Mr. Maudany needs a monthly follow-up consultation at Soukya after discharge, Mr. Mathai said: “A minimum of three weeks of follow-up treatment at our centre is a must. Doctors from Agarwal Hospital have recommended that an eye surgery should be done within eight weeks followed by bed rest.”
Pointing out that Mr. Maudany’s overall health had improved during his stay in Soukya, the holistic practitioner said that his diabetes management was better and bladder control had improved.
“He is advised to change his artificial right leg. The present one is causing problems for his amputated leg. He needs constant supervision of a diabetologist,” Mr. Mathai added.
